Glee and its double standards when it comes to the treatment of boys vs. the treatment of girls.
like well done and everything for making the most shallow, reductive examination of gender issues you possibly can, but like
lemme explain something for you
what you’re doing here? is dishonest. You are not giving an honest examination of what’s happening here.
Take the second row- You list Kurt saying Tina’s hagged out, but the equivalent of that- Finn and the “faggy lamp”? isn’t up there. There was equivalence there.
Similarly, Puck graduated… but Brittany got into MIT? In fact, if we look at how everyone is doing post-McKinley, the ones who had a real struggle were… the guys. Rachel got into college, Brittany got into college, Quinn got into college, Mercedes got a record deal, Santana got into college.
Did some of that fall through? Yeah but that’s what drives narrative- conflict. The guys failed early and often after high school.
Nevermind of course that Finn is MUCH nicer than Will almost categorically, as a glee club teacher- and that’s two of the examples here. Nevermind that Will has an ulterior motive to let Finn’s violence slide and Santana’s not. Nevermind that showing misogyny is not the same as condoning it.
All the neverminds in the world.
A post communicating that it’s misogyny to smack someone down after assaultatively touching another person has nearly seven thousand notes, presumably in the passive affirmative.
^THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THIS!!!
